A Woman Who Survived a Bloody Night of Mass Murder in Michigan by Rod Kackley

The Devil Made Him Do It:  Shocking True Crime Story of Mass Murder tells the story of a blood-soaked night in Kalamazoo Mich. when an Uber driver started killing people. Why? Jason Dalton says an app on his iPhone told him who to kill and who to let live.

Tiana Carruthers might not have been Jason Dalton’s first victim if not for an Uber customer who either decided they didn’t need a ride or a mistake in the address to which Dalton responded.

He pulled up in front of the Meadow Townhouse residential complex’s main office instead of the townhouse where an Uber customer was supposed to be waiting to be picked up.

When Dalton couldn’t find his customer, he waved Tiana over to his car asked her if she was the woman who wanted a ride or if she was the woman, before he opened fire. He fired as many as 10 rounds at Tiana. The 25-year old mother of a little girl was severely injured.

As she was shot, Tiana yelled to her daughter and other children at a nearby park to run for cover.

She was hit by four shots and still had a bullet lodged in her liver when she was released from the hospital in March to continue her recovery at home.

Doctors said the bullets fractured both of her femurs as well as her left arm. It was the fourth bullet that ripped through her right side and lodged in her liver.

As she continued her recovery at home, Tiana said she was ‘working on forgiving the man,: accused of shooting her.

“I do not hate him,” she said. “I do not hate him at all. I ask myself every day why don’t I hate this man, but I don’t. Sometimes I get angry with myself, but I don’t.”

Pistol Packin' Granny Scares Off Intruder/PJMedia

Criminals like to prey on the elderly because they're often weak and frail and considered soft targets. Howard Poche of Jeanerette, Louisiana, for example, was brutally murdered in his home on Christmas Day, most likely for drug money.  The frail 75-year-old was an active member of his church and a pillar of his community, which is devastated by his loss.
A 74-year-old grandma in Bowie County, Texas, could have met the same fate when an armed home invader broke into her home, but she had something Mr. Poche lacked -- a firearm of her own.
According to KSLA News 12, Rebbie Roberson was just about to sit down and watch the evening newscast Sunday night when someone wearing gloves and a mask broke into her home.
"And when I started to get up, he was in here on me with a gun facing me right to my face."

The Devil Made Him Do It: A Shocking True Crime Story of Mass Murder by Rod Kackley

One night in Kalamazoo, Mich, an app on Jason Dalton's iPhone started telling him to kill people. This is the story of those he killed, those who survived, and the police officers who finally put an end to a murderous, blood-soaked night.

“Enough not to miss.”
——Alexis Cornish’s response when a police officer asked how many times a man believed to be Jason Dalton had fired bullets at her boyfriend and his father.

It's also the story of a young woman and a teenage girl who survived this murderous night:

“I don't know if I can say it's a miracle. I think she's just one strong-willed child, who said, 'I'm not finished yet,’”
—Vicki Kopf, the mother of fourteen-year-old Abigail Kopf, who was shot in the head that night in Kalamazoo, and declared dead.
